OonPahPah Phant smooth vellum pad, page 2, marker and pencil drawing
This is currently an 'orphan' image--there is no scene in the book using it. As a matter of fact, this picture was not meant for the book in the first place. Later, I considered pressing it into service for a parade and celebration at the end of the story. But now the ending is undergoing revisions (along with the rest of the story), and the celebration is on hold. Not yet cancelled, though. The artwork is primarily done with water-based markers over a pencil drawing. Colored pencils were used in some parts, where the markers would build up too quickly. Finally, a hard-grade lead evened out the texture and sharpened the shadows.
