A temporary base of operations.
Traders' huts are built with the mud picked up right from the edge of the lake, and the glaze (the shiny stuff on the walls) protects them from the weather. The entire building is fired, like a ceramic vase in a kiln. The 'kiln', in reality, is more like a mound, a big heap of branches and dry earth. The wood smolders, and the dirt traps the heat inside for many days. When the mound cools down, the traders just dig the hut free. |
