- Computer lab activities
- Meet in the computer lab (rm. 1024, 2nd floor).
- Bring your student ID and, if you have them, bring along the CD-ROM from your textbook and headphones.
- Follow the directions on the CD-ROM for the Elements of Design (Texture and Pattern, Balance, Architecture) Interactive Exercises and self-test.
- Before leaving the computer, make sure to see the instructor to record your self-test results.
- Class activities
- Meet in the campus quad, in front of the new library.
- Take turns guiding the class on a tour of basic architectural features:
- Post-and-beam.
- Arch.
- Vault.
- Dome.
- Home activities
- For each of the basic structures in the previous assignment, find a picture showing its use in classical architecture (Greek/Roman or Asian).
- How does the architectural element in the picture differ from the one seen on campus?
- In the textbook, read about Classicism in Europe (pp. 261-275 of Chapter 16) and in Asia (Chapter 18).
