- Computer lab activities
- Meet in the computer lab (rm. 1024, 2nd floor).
- Bring your student ID and, if you have them, bring along the CD-ROM from your textbook and headphones.
- Follow the directions on the CD-ROM for the three Sculpture (Carving, Modeling, Casting) video demonstrations and self-tests.
- Before leaving the computer, make sure to see the instructor to record your self-test results.
- Class activities
- Present the two images you brought from home.
- Based on the two views you are showing, describe your understanding of the actual three-dimensional object.
- What additional images/information would you need to fully understand what the object is like? (size, weight, surrounding environment, range of motion of any parts that can be repositioned, etc.)
- If you saw this item firsthand, what else did you learn about it?
- Describe what you know (or infer) to be the process used in the making of the piece shown.
- Home activities
- Stroll around the FC campus, and find an example each of the following basic structures. Be prepared to guide the class on a tour of your discoveries.
- Post-and-beam.
- Arch.
- Vault.
- Dome.
- In the textbook, read about the making of our environment, real (Ch. 14 Architecture), virtual (Ch. 10 pp. 177-182 Digital), and narrative (Ch. 10 pp. 165-177 Film-Video, Ch. 11 pp. 190-192 Illustration).
