- Bring your student ID and, if you have them, bring along the CD-ROM from your textbook and headphones.
- Follow the directions on the CD-ROM for Printmaking video demonstrations and self-test.
- Before leaving the computer, make sure to see the instructor to record your self-test results.
- Class activities
- Present the image you brought from home.
- Explain how the image implies texture or motion.
- What is the corresponding actual texture or motion?
- Explain how the elements in this image balance out.
- If this image is not in balance, why would the artist have left it that way?
- Home activities
- Find and bring to class images of two paintings, showing a clear contrast between:
- In the textbook, read chapter 8 (pp. 126-138) and read the graphic design section of chapter 11 (pp. 183-190).
- Do you notice any connections between the trend mentioned at the end of chapter 8 (murals, public art) and the role of the design disciplines?
- What about differences? Many mural projects involve the participation of untrained artists, while successful graphic design requires the specialized skills of highly trained professionals.
